What should I expect after treatment?

After the AviClear treatment, you may experience mild redness and swelling from one hour up to two days. Acne flareups may occur, but are temporary and should resolve with time. We recommend applying SPF 30+ sunblock daily throughout your treatment series.

How should I care for my skin after treatment?
You should apply SPF 30+ sunblock daily and use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer on your face. You can wear makeup the day after your treatment and resume your regular skincare regimen 7-10 days after treatment. Avoid direct sunlight throughout your entire treatment process. PRE TREATMENT PREPARATION

POST TREATMENT CARE

•3 Treatments spaced approximately 4 weeks apart.
•Additional treatments may be necessary in some cases.
•Wear sunscreen immediately post treatment & daily during treatment
regimen.
•Avoid skin irritants (i.e., products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl
peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C/ascorbic acid, astringents,
etc.) for a few days pre and post treatment.
•Roughly half of AviClear patients experience Post Inflammatory Flare
Ups after one or all their treatments.
•To help decrease the risk of flare-ups that could lead to
hyperpigmentation, patients can take Loratadine (Claritin®), an overthe-counter non-drowsy antihistamine, for 3 – 7 days post treatment.
•Advise patients that condition can worsen before it improves.
•Typically occurs a few days post-treatment.
•Typically last a few weeks post-treatment but can last up to
several months after treatment.
•Non-comedogenic makeup for acne-prone skin is okay to cover.
•Over the counter benzol peroxide and/or topical retinoids can help
minimize breakouts.
•It is up to the treatment provider to determine if additional
modalities should be used during the AviClear treatment regimen to
control Post Inflammatory Flare Ups.
o Some practitioners choose to prescribe topical
therapies, systemic agents, physical modalities, lasers, etc. to aid in flareups.
o It is not recommended to concurrently prescribe
Isotretinoin (Accutane) during the AviClear treatment regimen as
Isotretinoin suppresses excessive sebaceous secretion, which the
AviClear laser targets during treatments.

BASIC SKIN CARE TIPS

• Wash face every morning and night and after working out/
sweating.
• Benzoyl peroxide or a retinoid product (starting a few days after
treatment) can prevent clogged pores.
• Every morning and evening, apply non-comedogenic
moisturizer to prevent rebound oiliness.
• Use UVA/UVB sunblock daily. •Shampoo hair regularly if
it’s long or touches face/back.
• Trying too many new acne treatments at once can irritate
skin.
• Don’t touch or pick acne prone skin.
• Wash makeup brushes, pillowcases, sheets, etc. regularly
